I have finished my first prototype of my cam mechanism table. I have realised through this the mistakes that I have made and how I will change it.  Here is a short stop animation movie of the cam mechanism working and how the table will work.

Here are some of the pics of my prototype table of the cam mechanism which lift the hidden box to the surface...

I have started on my final pieces for the FMP.  I have chosen the table with the cam mechanism underneath to lift a box/drawer from the surface, which holds an item like sugar/salt and pepper etc that would be needed to be stored. From spending time in the workshops the technician talked about an artist call William Heath Robinson, so I have been doing a bit of research about him and he s really interesting I also came upon an artist similar to Heath Robinson called Rube Goldberg.

A William Heath Robinson cartoon called 'Avoid that sinking feeling' -
This device 'enables the tourist to cross the most treacherous quick-sands with impunity'.

One really funny cartoon of an alarm clock mechanism by Rube Goldberg...

I have tried to develop the idea of using the marbles/bearings in domestic objects, I have integrated this mechanism in a rocking chair. Instead of the chair being shaped so that the curved wooden supports rock backwards and forwards, in this chair the seat itself moves along the curve by the user pushing themselves up and down the curve on the seat.

With this mechanism I have been looking at making a drawer that slides in and out with a linear motion when making a rotating circular motion.

I have been trying to make sure that the drawers are practical and this is what I came up with...
